Pokimane Says 'Only White People Hated' Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show
K.Dot's high-energy Halftime Show performance on Sunday, featuring SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams, reportedly drew 120 million viewers.
Populuar streamer Pokimane firmly believes only a certain demographic of individuals didn’t enjoy Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show that occurred over the weekend.
The electrifying 14-minute halftime show on Sunday saw K.Dot performing a slew of hits along with special guest SZA, plus surprise appearances from Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams. According to Billboard, 120 million viewers tuned in to watch.
However, not everyone seemed thrilled by the performance and Pokimane opted to say the quiet part out loud during a recent stream.
In a video clip circulating online, the 28-year-old streamer lamented on certain individuals “with probably zero musical capabilities” who believe that Lamar didn’t “deserve” to perform on the world’s biggest stage.
“Only white people hated it. I didn't want to say it,” Pokimane said bluntly. “As a white passing person, I didn't wanna say that. But you saying that and me repeating that message, I'm just gonna let that sit.”
She continued, “You know what pissed me off the most... The people that I saw with this take the most were white men. Ain't nothing wrong with being a white man. That's not the point. My point is that, you know, I feel like if you watched his performance and really took it in, you'd be like ‘There are some underlying messages that the performance is trying to convey, especially during Black History Month.’”
Poki isn’t the only person with this train of thought. Here are some of the best reactions to Kendrick’s critics.
Back in 2024, Pokimane said she wasn’t rocking with Drake as much as she used to due to his Stake partnership, as she dislikes gambling. “When I heard Drake was involved with Stake, my heart broke, I’ma be honest,” Pokimane said during a stream at the time. “Because I’ve been a little Drake fangirl, you know, the Canadian blood running through my veins—and I still love his music. Now I don’t love him as much as a person.”
