Krispy Kreme Offers Free Glazed Donut to Gamers Affected by PlayStation Service Outage
This is the largest PlayStation Network service outage since 2011, when it went down for 23 days.
Krispy Kreme has stepped up to the plate to help alleviate the stress that many people are going through with Playstation Network (PSN) currently out of service.
On Saturday, Feb. 8, the popular food company took advantage of the mishap with Sony by telling fans on social media that gamers affected by the worldwide Playstation service outage can get a free donut. According to Krispy Kreme's social media post, Playstation users can get a free glazed donut for a limited time.
"Calling all gamers: this play station still works Grab a free Original Glazed Doughnut today from 5-7 PM—because sweet rewards don't need a server. #gaming#network#PSN#freedoughnut#krispykreme," read the post.
PSN was down for nearly 24 hours, and gamers wondered what's been going on. The gaming company hadn't given an update since its last message on Friday, stating it was aware of the issues and directed people to the PSN service status website.
Various people have reported slowly getting access to certain PSN features and games. The PlayStation Store was also available to view games, but users were unable to purchase anything. However, it seems things are all good now, as the PlayStation Network service status website states that everything is up and running.
This latest outage was the most extended Sony has experienced in several years. In 2011, Playstation Network went out for 23 days due to a massive security breach that compromised the data of 77 million users and left gamers scrambling for nearly a month.
